Too Cool To Chill

When does it become, ‘to cool to chill’ in one’s life era? When is it a bit of a burden to be associated with your parents, at a digital level anyhow?
As time goes by and parents lurch towards that small light at the end of the proverbial tunnel, we as children listen to what they say but take this as mumblings which ‘does not compute.’ Time does this and there are different overlaps for us all.

We as moms and dads look upon our children as information sponges and while they are young they will enthuse and hang on every word we have to say. Then as time passes there is an overlap in knowledge for them that will surpass our own understanding of life and everything and our offspring run off into the future with it. Leaving us to comment,” I don’t really understand that.”

Some would argue that that is the norm since time immemorial and children must always surpass us otherwise there may be period of non development. Change becomes an ugly word, we all dress the same, have the same computer, watch the same programmes? Hey wait a minute; I am not going to stand for it! I am over here!

It does often take a change to make a change and for this we need a change agent so rather than keeping quiet and wait for the drop off point I have decided to speak up, make a mark, shout out to whoever will listen. I would rather be remembered as someone who had a crazy idea than be quickly forgotten as someone who made up a number!

So for all you people out there waiting for something to happen I say this, “Get off your backside and make your own change.”

It appears that the more I study time the more complicated it gets.
Looking at the meaning of time can we agree that time is like a continuum where anything that goes through a gradual transition creates a succession from one to another. Then the durations and spaces between motions that occur become measurable.
As my pen moves across the paper, back and forth, time elapses yet something has been created, a thought pattern perhaps, an understanding of life itself, who knows, time will tell?

So if we agree on how time is, or can be defined and measured then an understanding of our own existence grows.
When examining our lives clocks and watches and other devices become obsolete as other defining factors rule our behaviour. Technology, the internet and Television are able to create different ways for us to use our own time in many ways although other time constraints such as the time it takes to get to work for example may remain the same.
If we were to consider an existence where no measuring devices were available, how long would it take before our own measuring methods of time passage become the norm for us to pass on to our children?
When do we get up in the morning? Is this determined by the sun, the weather our health? When shall we plant our crops and where, how do they grow and why? Shall we go to bed when we are tired and rise when the sun appears?
Behaviour when considering all these factors sun, light, dark, water food, illness and age is constant and we must rely on gained knowledge to progress. Time management becomes a handy tool.

How we are brought up and what is learnt from our parents and others will determine our own perceptions of time. These may be altered by the way in which we live our lives. Drugs may slow down or speed up, overestimate or underestimate our sense of time. When we age it is a known perception that an older person can perceive a week as passing in a blink of an eye where a child can remember the same week as lasting for ever. This, although measured in time as being exactly the same can be defined mathematically as a calculation of one’s life lived. Example, one day to an eleven-year-old person would be approximately 1/4,000 of their life, while one day to a 55-year-old would be approximately 1/20,000 of their life.

Now aren’t you glad I told you that?

‘Simply Salt’

‘Simply Salt’ is the first in a series of ‘Creative Surfaces’ workshops from Fibre in-Form allowing you to pick and choose which techniques you would like to explore and take further.
We all know how life can sometimes get in the way of our creative endeavours so these workshops have been designed to enable you to start and finish them at your leisure.
‘Simply Salt’ will take you through the process of creating an amazing surface on a background of Lutradur using gesso, ink, silk paints and salt.
This surface can then be embellished further using machine or hand stitch, beading or other embellishments but is equally decorative enough to use on its own to create vessels, book covers, bags etc.
The workshop includes five chapters with 77 colour illustrations.

When we wake up one morning and take a good look in the mirror we may see someone else looking back at us. Although familiar in appearance, someone we know, there is something wrong.
Time has not been good as it has attacked our very person, played havoc with our well being and run amok amid the bones and sinew.
We take a few moments of time and consider what had happened over the past few years. All that food, the stuff we are always told to keep our distance from yet cannot seem to; call our name as we pass them on the supermarket shelves. Cake calls our name, alcohol whispers in our ear, ready cooked chicken pecks at our hunger. All this and more marks the path that leads us all to the same look in the mirror, the realisation of age. Oh! Woe is me. (And you)
I have heard and not sure of its truth or origin that eating well, (I thought I did that) exercise and living a true and godly existence may even extend one’s life by up to five years.
Then I get to thinking what I could do in five years in my forties and what I can do in five years in my seventies. Yup I am too late; time has passed me by in a blinking of an eye.
But if you are in your forties and are reading this then you may consider using the time now to change your life to an alternative path, one where you really do live for the moment.

If you are in your sixties, do you need to carry on working and if your answer is yes then list down 10 reasons why you must. (Makes very poor reading doesn’t it?)
The simplest of changes to your routine can spark a new beginning making time your friend. Speak to others and find out about them, what do they do, what hobbies have they got. Degzy quote; “an active mind if not accompanied by an active body equals a very clever vegetable.” (Hmm food again)
You know that while I have written this time has passed and I realise it will not come back, however It may have been worthwhile if someone else reading my scrawling takes time to think and make changes to their lives

Has anyone studied an ant colony? The communication and work ethic of an ant is undoubtedly staggering.
Yet we do not need nor want to mirror this behaviour choosing instead to look inward and worry how things effect us.
Consider the time wasted in worrying what will happen tomorrow.

Something strange seems to go on when you attempt to set your own timepiece in line with the displayed time. Then refresh the page and low and behold, yes low, the time on your watch is now incorrect?????

Woke up this morning and thought to myself ah, time to get up. Made breakfast of the usual cornflakes and decided there was time to get dressed and get out of the house and enjoy the early morning sunlight.
Had to get back home in time for the TV show I am following though.

What is time? Can we make it? Can we save it? Can we use it to think? When we look back was there time to consider? The time it took to compile this, was it wasted? Some may say yes, others will be able to consider a more enlightened path. Join me in the quest for the answers of time.

The work from A Vision Course In Psycics comprises a dark sensation combined with visual experimentation from the underbelly of our own existence. How are we ever to evolve if not by acceptance of our own frailty. What contrast now to see everyday imagery of light and uplifting talk torn like shredded paper to fit our very dismal future. After returning from my recent holiday in Turkey I wanted to share my photographs not only of the fantastic scenery but also arguably the best and most professionally run restaurant in Altinkum. Pinocchio.
Staff were considerate, the food fantastic, atmosphere electric, especially on party nights and prices to suit all. If you think I am promoting this well yes I suppose I am.

I will post one of the shots where an unsuspecting Irishman wore an outfit to ceremoniously chop of the top of a previously flaming pot containing a traditional Turkish meal for two people.

The beginning of time for 2007

If we were to contemplate time and how it is tracked we may consider using a scratch on a wall, a favourite for prison inmates in a far off land I’m told. Traditionally of course this would always take the form of a vertical scratch indicating a day has passed followed by another series of five before scratching a diagonal to complete one week. So simple and easy to do, no training necessary as it comes so natural. Hey anybody could do it.

This one week group signifies that a week in your life has now been lost forever never to be repeated, unless you believe in reincarnation of course in which case you may just want to do something completely different the second time around. For our purposes let’s stick to this life.

When we have marked the completion of the second week will they form any significant memory and if so for whom? How long will this memory last and how long will it last if it only belongs to you? Just what did you do two weeks ago that makes it a memory? If your recollection is nil was that a wasted week in your life?

What is time?
How do you perceive it?
At what point did you realise that time was important, were you young or old?
Time is limited – We all get the same amount, or do we?
Time management – Oh yes it does like to be managed
Time is scarce – The lack of it can be used as blame when plans have gone wrong.
Free time – Sounds great but is there anything free in this life, after all if there is no such thing as a free lunch why should we expect time to be free? When you relax in free time this is just another erosion of life itself isn’t it? But when we talk of free time it sounds so very nice.
Going down the pub, why not I do have some free time you know.

Why not be positive right now and change your life and realise your own potential?
Be positive in your actions and you will see that time may just look after you

This is the famous Laburnum Arch that can be found in the beautiful National Trust grounds of Bodnant Gardens, North Wales. When in the gardens the sheer scale of nature is something not to be missed in anyones lifetime.
